This is a day the Lord has made

Psalms 118:24 2-3-15

            24 This is the day the LORD has made;
          We will rejoice and be glad in it.

At the dawning of a new day all of creation waits to do what God has created it to do.

God has instructed us what we should do, we are to rejoice and be glad.  Our rejoicing is a testimony, a light for the world to see that:

1)     God has plans for us this day, plans that result in rejoicing

Last year we were on vacation in Amarillo, Texas.  One day, early in the morning I was on my way to a dude ranch to go horseback riding.  I noticed over in the east the beginning of a new day.  The two prettiest times of the day are the sunrise and the sunset.  The sunrise this day was beautiful with its many shades of colors.  A thought came to me that this is what God had for us this day.  He created this sunrise. Who else could do it?  He offers to us a day filled with various shades of beauty.
I finally arrived at the dude ranch.  One of the owners took me on a private ride to Palo Doro canyon.  It is probably on of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. My guide told me of the history of the Comanche Indians that used to live in the canyon.  The ride, the canyon and the history made for a beautiful beginning of the day.  And here I was sitting on the rim of that canyon taking it all in.  I felt so blessed at the creation of all of this and the fact that He let me see it and be a part of it.

At the end of the day I made it a point to check out the sunset.  It too was a beautiful and majestic display of God’s beauty.  And again I felt so blessed that God shared it with me.

Why are we able to see and enjoy this?  It was because of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, and God’s desire for all people to see the beauty of the creation He has prepared for them.

That is the secret to a beautiful life in Christ.  Our life must be focused of Him every day and what He has for us. Think what people are missing.  They say just another day of work and worry.  They go through the whole day without not only never seeing God’s beauty but, never even thinking about Him.

Enter the believer.  This is where we come in.  We must not only experience it, but we must share it with others so that they too might know Christ and see the life He has for them.  It is given to us that we can testify of the love and goodness of God.

One of he best ways for us to enjoy life much more is to change our perspective.  In our first blog I mentioned responsibility and opportunity.  This thought really changed how I see things.  You see the day is just not a list of rules and responsibilities, but it’s a day filled with opportunities.  Charlie Rose, the news broadcaster said his philosophy of life is “It’s not how I fill my day?”  It’s ‘How does my day fill me?’  Each day is filled with opportunities and blessings if we will only change how we look at the events that we incur.  Don’t think of it as a responsibility but as an opportunity.  I would encourage you to pray about this and look at some of the situations in your life And rethink them.  Ask Christ to show you the opportunities that you have.

In John’s gospel chapter 10:10 Jesus said 10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Each day is a gift that we might enjoy and rejoice in it.

I thank God every day for His blessings that He has bestowed upon us.  His love, mercy and grace toward us is beyond limits.
